Keeping with our policy of transparency we regret to report that the Galway Co-op was robbed of thousands of dollars in equipment and over $6,000 in vandalism. Additionally one of our employees was assaulted. The perpetrator is Todd Austin a Broadalbin resident. Austin was arrested and is awaiting trial. Austin was renting an apartment from the Co-op. When we inspected the apartment we found crack paraphernalia. He has two prior convictions for which he did prison time. This case is being prosecuted by the Fulton County DA’s office. We hope that Austin will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. This loss will effect our budget. We won’t know to what extent until the case is over. We will keep you informed.
